PSALM 71: A DEVOTIONAL JOURNEY THROUGH LIFELONG TRUST (PART 1)

 I. THE CRY OF THE VULNERABLE

When You Feel Exposed

You come to God seeking protection, afraid of disgrace. This isn’t the prayer of someone confident in their circumstances—it’s the prayer of someone whose defenses are crumbling. Perhaps you’re aging and feeling forgotten. Perhaps enemies are closing in. Perhaps you’re simply aware that without God’s intervention, you have nowhere to hide.
The psalmist’s opening plea reveals something crucial: vulnerability is the doorway to faith. You ask God to save and rescue you because He does what is right, to listen and set you free. Notice the assumption embedded here—God’s righteousness guarantees His response. His character is your foundation when your circumstances feel unstable.

To think about:
What situation has made you feel most exposed?
What would it mean to believe that God’s righteousness compels Him to help?
